This site is dedicated to the memory of Julie Buckley.

My sister Julie lost her battle with cancer back on 30th April 2011. Not originally from Scotland, Julie adopted Glasgow as her home and had lived in the city for a number of years, working at Strathclyde Uni and embraced city living, establishing roots up North. She coped with the devastating diagnosis fantastically well and only 6 weeks before she died had been running on a beach in Austrailia, determined to live her shortened life to the full, never dwelling on the negative and embracing the positive. Plans had to change quite quickly as Julie's health deterioated faster than had been anticpated and the services of the hospice were offered to Julie and our family. I cannot begin to thank the hospice for all they did in those final few days. The treated Julie with respect, love and care that I only thought possible from her family, but that care and love was extended to us her family and her close friends who visited. Nothing was too much trouble and for a family trying to cope with the devastating situation in an unfamilar city far from home , I cannot begin to tell you how grateful we all were to the team. So now is the time to try and repay in some small way all that kindness that the team showed us and I and a few mates are planning a sponsorsed bike ride from Julie's family home, Warrington to Julie's adopted home, Glasgow in July 13. It's 250 miles from home (Warr) to away (Glas) and a great way to see some beautiful scenery whilst raising money for the hospice. Jim, Gaz, John, Simmo and I are all out training, putting the miles in and getting our backsides use to 8 hours cycling a day and I will add some journal entries in the page informing you all of our progress. Riggers is team mechanic and medic. Any spare change will be gratefully received and if you fancy a trip to Glasgow we will be finishing the ride at the hospice on 20th July and celebrating Julie's life with a few beers in some of her favourites bars. Thank you in advance, your donation will make a difference.x
